Dress Cleaning on a budget

Right ladies I am over the moon as I have offcially bought my wedding dress off the Bay of E, its arrived its beautiful and it fits! (although a few pounds to loose would mean I could actuallly eat a few mouthfuls of the wedding breakfast :p)

The dress does need a clean (did say so in the ad) but I have no idea where the hell to send it. I know it can be really expensive but I am on a ridiculous budget (made redundant in September and no work to be found :( ) has anyone got any ideas who will do a decent job for not a lot of cash??

Am in the East Midlands if that helps :S

Many many thanks ladies

Prices for wedding dress drycleaning are a lot more than suits. For a start they have several layers of different fabrics, satin, silk, lace etc. they aso have lots of embellishment like beading, sequins, crystals applique etc.

It can cost from £50 to £150.#

I dont know of any cleaners in the East Mids OP but make sure you check what level of insurance they offer should they damage your dress.

Save up Tesco vouchers and swap them for 4x the amount with Johnsons the cleaners.

From what I hear independent dry cleaners are better, but on a budget the above would seem a good way to go.
    I love surprises!

Is it very obviously a wedding dress? My wedding dress was from Monsoon and when I took it in for cleaning after the wedding they asked if it was a wedding dress or a evening dress, (it's a full length ivory chiffon number) and with £60 of a price difference the little white lie just tripped off my tongue. My point is though, that if it could be an evening dress the prices are way more reasonable

In my local co-op they are selling off the dr beckhams dry cleaning kits I think they we're £1 each.

From reading the packet you put the item in the bag provided and then put it in the tumble dryer. I will have a look proper in a bit for you though.

Saves you having to take it anywhere love :)

Steph, must admit bit nervous about the tumble dryer thing as it has a lot of detail around the dress and I am worried it will get ruined - also the small matter of not having a tumble dryer....

    heelllpppp

ps this skinny woman isn't me I am a 16 it fits perfect and I make it look good :p I.e. I have curves :p

  • Tesco dont run the offer anymore unfortunately. I have taken mine to Jonsons and they ask how much its worth. I gave the prive I paid on ebay and they charged me £79.99 - that was for one up to £500. The more its worth the more they charge.

    Your dress is beautiful btw!

Thanks Cherry! I have just been looking on https://www.pdem.co.uk and they do the same re cost of dress. The problem I have then is that I only paid £95 for the dress so am worried if something does go wrong I won't get back enough to be able to replace the dress.

Arrgghhh don't know what to do.....

Yeah id go for a price range of what the dress is worth, not what you paid for it!
