Searching. Is it me?

I wanted to look again at a new single post thread posted on the Grabbit board that I found yesterday. In fact it was posted yesterday.
The title of the thread is: Netgear Adsl Firewall Router. Staples
If I do a search on, Netgear, or, Netgear Staples, in that forum the thread does not appear in the results. Yet if I manually look through the Grabbit board pages I can find it on page 5.
Is it me?
Edit: Just tried searching this forum for this thread using the word Searching and it didn't appear in results. So perhaps it's something to do with a thread having only the one post. I shall investigate by replying to this thread myself.
Edit 2: I just replied and then did a simple search of this forum and the thread didn't appear in results. I then tried an advanced search (on entire posts) and it did appear. This was not the case when I did advanced search on the Grabbit thread. The thread didn't appear in either simple or advanced searches and I've just checked this again.
Next I deleted my reply to this thread and it still appears in an advanced search but not a simple one.

I came here because I wanted to make a suggestion about the search function... currently, in terms of searching the forums, it's really not that practical

For example... if I want to search for a thread in one forum about 'Boots' which I've seen before, the best I can do is search all forums, which brings up 300 hits (I assume it's capped at 300)
I would be nice to be able to search by poster, by date, etc... but being able to narrow a search down to a specific forum would be a huge step in the right direction. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
You can search each board by using the "search this forum" in the top right hand corner above all the threads.frivolous_fay wrote:I came here because I wanted to make a suggestion about the search function... currently, in terms of searching the forums, it's really not that practical

In there you can either just put in Boots or go into advanced search which allows you to place Boots and the poster you are looking for, just as an example.
In advanced you can also bring up threads that a particular poster has posted or in individual posts.
Better explanation by sra here with pictures.

Also to the OP did you search for Netgear or netgear as the search doesn't like capital letters.0

Hi Edinburghlass.
I used lower case.0 -
I just put in netgear to the Grabbit Board search and it came up with 24 threads but not the right one. Tried with firewall, nope, staples far too many and not the right one.
But I did try with router and bingo

Perhaps its because its Sunday and a day off for netgear, stapes and firewall.0 -
Yes you're right, router does work.
I just tried Netgear and netgear and now that works too, but not Staples or staples.

No it's not just you onzey.....I often have problems with the search function - but I can guarantee as soon as I post a question the wonderful board guides will find the post I thought was there....I always thought they had a different search facility - now Eddielass has blown that theory I guess they just have better memories as to where the thread was last seen.....
