Blue screen on laptop

My daughters laptop keeps coming up with a blue screen, then when we reboot we get a "windows experienced a problem" message. The details it shows are
Problem :blue screen
Locale ID 2057
BC code a
BCP1 00000025
BCP2 00000002
BCP3 00000001
BCP4 81E67851
o/s version 6_0_6002

I have tried hidden menu and selected last known good configuration, but it still came up with the error message.
Is this an expensive problem, knowing our luck its terminal!

I would suggest taking it to a shop to get fixed, however depending on the age of the machine it may not be worth the cost.

    Best of luck.

This BSOD could be related to a bad driver.
Can you confirm that the laptop is running Vista?
Are there any devices plugged into the laptop and does unplugging them help with the issue?
Can you recall if any new devices, drivers, or software were recently added?

Ideally, the next time the machine has a BSOD, you should access the directory and get hold of the dump (dmp) file which contains details about the crash. Depending on the configuration of the machine, if settings are still default you will have a minidump file created in the C:\Windows\Minidump\ directory
Try copying or moving this .dmp file to another directory/location.

Hopefully this is just a case of analysing the crash and identifying the driver responsible and then either removing the driver or upgrading the driver.

    Configuring your system for Minidump:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263

    Configure the dump type

To configure startup and recovery options to use the small memory dump file, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click System.
    3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
    4. In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (64k).

To change the folder location for the small memory dump files, type a new path in the Dump File box (or in the Small dump directory box, depending on your version of Windows).

It is an advent(i think) running vista.Nothing is attatched to it, only a usb stick every so often with her work on it.I will check things when i can get to it when she gets home.
