Crumbs! Ah well, at least the card is pretty even if it'll be no good for guaranteeing cheques! Thanks for the advice :)

You cannot apply for a student overdradt online. You have to call or go in branch, as it is partly a manual assessment.
    Best Regards

  • Doesn't help you in the slightest. I do feel sorry for the current and following sets of students. I was the last year of those that got tuition free Higher Education, also an automatic overdraft of £1,500 from HSBC.

However, the benefits of having a degree is probably worth it for lots of people but think others will have to consider if it'll be worth it - which is a shame as it's good life experience.
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.

    Evening all,

I opened a Natwest Current Plus account in July which i have now upgraded to a Student account. I didn't automatically receive an overdraft when the account opened.

I have just tried to apply online for an overdraft for this account and i keep getting a message saying that
s.gif s.gif s.gifWe have not identified a Current Account that qualifies for an overdraft.

What does that mean? I'm stumped. I half expect to be knocked back as i have a pretty poor credit history but am i to ascertain from this message that they know that too and have limited my account to the extent that i cannot even apply?

Any guidance from the Oracles would be greatly appreciated!

Don't worry about the overdraft, I had the same thing with my RBS student overdraft - it said no accounts were eligible online. I went into the branch and it was approved there and then.
