I tried by email, they just get 'lost'. Phone call will make things happen fast. Also use saynoto0870.com to make sure your not paying premium rate for the call.

Hmmm, well I can always go for registered post. Some of the horror stories people have online seem to warrant it. Roger on saynoto0870.

Just write to them, and tell them that their implied right of access to your property is withdrawn and that they must not knock on your front door again. Smiple as that. Nothing else.

You have no obligation to speak to them, let them in, prove anything to them, or even tell them you don't have a TV. Write to them, and then hhave no further contact with them.

Yes. Unfortunately, I did confirm my name to them (and also told them I did not have a TV). Obviously I probably shouldn't have done that, but there it is. So I want to make sure their agent doesn't start lying about the conversation we had or anything (as apparently, at least according to the interwebs, that's happened to other people).

So what if he does? It doesn't matter. You don't watch live TV broadcasts, so you have nothing to fear. Just tell them not to visit again and don't enter into any further correspondence with them.

If that were me and i didnt have a TV I would let them in to see for themselves. I done this a few years ago when i didnt have a TV and they left me alone..

maybe you should do the same and save yourself lots of heartache and bother

Where's the fun in that?! :D

Just ignore them, they're not going to get a warrant when they haven't got a shred of evidence against you and unlike people who do watch TV without a licence who face a minute risk of being caught in the act, you have zero risk. Only if they start being a nuisance would I complain but when I didn't have a TV or licence all I got was a letter once a month saying "This is your last chance" basically but I ignored it as I was basically using the place to sleep so didn't bother with a TV.

Presumably they have no legal right to enter your property? At what stage does it escalate so they *do* have a legal right to search for a TV? Do the police have to become involved?

Once they get a warrant, but they cannot get a warrant without some reasonable grounds, and simply not having a licence and not letting strangers in to your house will ot be sufficient for a warrant to be granted.

I know you don't need a license legally, I just wondered how you feel about using iplayer, and watching the tv programmes that I (and others) fund without paying for them? Why do you feel that you should be entitled to watch this content without paying for it? If everyone thought like you then the beeb would vanish because they'd be no funding.

Personally, because I pay for this content, I'd like to see the legislation amended - you need to enter a valid licence number to access iplayer, or a system like sky.

Perhaps this is an unpopular view, but I think that this is no better than sponging.
