Just about to send off my BR form

Options
Hi

After taking advice from national debtline and CAB im going to send my bankrupcy form to the A.I.B

I have already rented a new place which I will move into at the end if the month. Just looking for some advice on the following

Do i tell my mortgage company about me going BR or will I leave that to the O.R?

Do I tell the council also regarding my council tax payments also or do I just cancel the direct debit.
Also would this be the same with my utility bills. Gas elec and virgin media

Any help much appreciated. Very nervous just now about the whole process

Thanks

    Hi

After taking advice from national debtline and CAB im going to send my bankrupcy form to the A.I.B

I have already rented a new place which I will move into at the end if the month. Just looking for some advice on the following

Do i tell my mortgage company about me going BR or will I leave that to the O.R? The OR will have nothing to do with the house. When you move into your new rented home write them a letter to ssay you wish to give the house up for repossesion and this is your formal notice that you are quitting the property. Do not sign anything they send you. They may try to get you to sign a deed of acknowledgement, which is fine before BR but not after. When the house is sold the shortfall and fees will go into your BR.

Do I tell the council also regarding my council tax payments also or do I just cancel the direct debit. Let the council know you are moving out of the property and on what date. In England you are given a 6 month break in paying for that property, I don't know if that is the same in Scotland.
Also would this be the same with my utility bills. Gas elec and virgin media. Utilities take readings and inform them on the day you move out what those readings are. Keep a note for yourself as well. If you have date stamped pics on your camera then take a pic as well. If you want to keep Virgin on then just sort out change of address and service with them.

Any help much appreciated. Very nervous just now about the whole process

    Thanks

The Scottish rules are slightly different but hopefully that will make sense.
