Switching line rental from BT to Sky

Hi everyone, I've got what I assume is a very simple question with hopefully a simple answer. I want to switch my line rental from BT to Sky (Sky currently provide my calls). Do Sky contact BT to tell them I will no longer be using them or do I have to do that?
Thanks for your help.

Be aware that once you move your line rental to Sky, your line may be LLU'd, so should you wish to leave Sky at a future date, you woud first have to take your line rental back to BT on a 12m 'return to donor' contract. It also means that you cannot have your broadband with any other ISP than Sky.

If it's just Sky Talk Line Rental you want to add then yes, Sky contact BT on your behalf.

Just be aware that moving to SKY Talk requires you to also have the BT Unlimted Anytime Call Package as well.

I have a BT line and had BT Unlimted Anytime package, then in June this year I just wanted to move my calls to SKY talk. The transfer went through but today I have found out that BT are still charging me for the BT Unlimted Anytime which they have stated that can not be cancelled unless you cancel your line rental.

I know this is rubbish but I have now spoken today with 2 barley speaking indian people who both insited that to keep line rental with BT you must also pay for the BT Unlimted Anytime even though you will not be using it.

Tried to speak to a supervisor but was refused.

Now hoping that the BT rep on these forums will intervene by reading my post elsewhere on these forums (Tried PM but they are not accepted PM's). If I here nothing by 3pm then I will now be moving my line rental to SKY and **** BT as I am not paying an extra £5 a month for the privilege of having line rental with BT

All BT line rental requires you to have at least a minimum call package, being the Unlimited Weekend package which is inclusive with the line rental. Not Unlimited Anytime.

yes they do contact BT for you. Bt still sent me a bill for the upcoming quaters line rental but a quick phone call corrected it and they sent out a revised bill in a few days.

As previously posted, this is incorrect, all you need is the minimum line rental package.
You can save by paying your line rental for 12 months up front. its called line rental saver.

That was a bit of a rant that didn't even cover the OPs question. OP said Sky already dealt with their calls, they just wanted to move the line rental. Anyway, hope you feel better for your rant. I believe the reps are not allowed to accept PMs but you can email them.

To the OP - Sky will contact BT for you, they did all the legwork for me anyway.
