Buyer no longer wants item, how to proceed?

Hi

I sold a laptop on Ebay over a week ago now, and the winning bidder has today decided that they can't pay for it. Grrr. I want to offer it to the next highest bidder on a "Second Chance Offer", but I've never done it before and I'm not sure exactly how it works even after reading the help page!

Do I need to open a NPB case against the original winner and wait for that to close?

Or do I just go straight to offering it to the next highest bidder? Does that square it all with the original winner not paying?

If you offer to the second highest bidder, Ebay think you have two. So charge two sets of fees.

Only you can judge whether your buyer is worth a NPB or a mutual.

If you NPB, they get 4 days to pay and then a strike if they don't.

With a mutual, if they refuse, you lose the fee refund.

Your call. I know what mine would be, but I have no sympathy.

I just NPB them, there is nothing mutual about someone who will not pay.

I am rather anoyed about it all as she had promised twice that she would pay soon, so I am fine with opening a NPB against her.

Does it always take 4 (?) days for a case to close or if she agrees that she isn't going to pay can it be closed sooner? And after that can I then go on to offer it to the next highest bidder as a second chance, or would I have to relist it?

Once opened you must wait 4 days before you can close it. You can then go to a second chance offer.
