Ebay Seller seems to want ME to pay for HIS mistake

Hello All,
I'm having a litle bit of a problem on ebay, could anyone give me some advice on how to proceed please?
I bought some brake disks, item number 300005999030 on the 12th September. In the listing, the seller asked for the full details of the car to be included with the payment, to ensure they would supply the correct disks.
I paid by paypal, and included the make, model, year, engine type and size, I also included the chassis number to make doubly sure, as I knew that if the seller were unsure, this would be useful to him.
The disks arrived, and I took them to be fitted. Later on in the day, I received a call from the mechanic telling me that he'd stripped my brakes down, and had just discovered that the new ones were the wrong kind, they were too big.
I emailed the seller to tell him about the problem, and asked if I could return the wrong ones and have the right ones sent to me. He's replied that this won't be a problem, but he wants me to send the wrong ones back to him at MY expense, by a trackable method and then pay for him to send the right ones back. The postage on these was £10.50.
Now, it can't just be me. As I see it, I bought the right disks for my car from his advert, provided him with more than enough info to supply the right ones, and was always on the end of a phone or email if there were any queries, and he wants ME to pay the postage another twice to get the right ones?
Surely, this can't be right? What can I do?

Morally, yes, he should pay your return postage. But aside from asking politely, you can't make him.My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I think you're entitled to a refund via paypal/eBay rules - goods not as described (he promised to send the item that would be suitable for your particluar bike).

I'd be steaming.
Are you going to have to pay extra for your mechanic as well?
First things first a strongly worded email stating you want him to cover the postage both ways as it his mistake plus mention your extra exspense with regards the mechanics fees (wether or not you actually incurred any) there's no way he'll cover them but use it as leverage.
If he won't play ball then I'd file a item not as described claim via paypal you'll still have to pay return postage via a trackable method but at least you'll guarantee you'll get your £55 back. The fact that your mechanic has opened packaging etc may mean he will try and offer you a part refund - he sounds like a scumbag.
Also did you pay via credit card or paypal balance?
If by credit card you may be able to chargeback through your credit card company. I've posed this question on here a few times but never had a definitive answer. Can buyers charge back for items not as described via there credit card or is it only for non receipt? I imagine policies may vary between credit card issuers (and I'm aware that some have minimum spends i.e £100) but has anyone sucessfully charged back for recieving an item that was not as described? There must be someone on here who recieved a box of bricks rather than a plasma T.V. !?0 -
what choice do you have? keep them and say nothing or send them back? - he should pay because it was his fault, BUT the chances of him doing this, is slim.... just send them back, get the new ones, and then give him neutral or negNever do things tomorow when you can do them today.0

If the seller sent you the wrong item then they should reimburse you the return postage and send you the correct part and take the loss.
I've just checked the item listing and they don't put all the details of their return policy apart from saying 30 days to return.
If you don't get any joy out of them then try Live Help
