PrivacyGuard - warning

Hi All,

I'm not 100% sure where to post this, so feel free to move it to the most appropriate board!

I signed up for a free 30 day trial with PrivacyGuard (access to your Experian credit report). To be fair I was doing it purely for cashback, however I received the most unprofessional service and want to warn anyone off using them to be honest.

The "dedicated members hotline" number on their home page doesn't work; emailing them directly or through their contact us page on the website both result in a "looped" email that bounces back after a few days.

If you dig, they do have a number that works but their staff give you differing advice and hang up on you consistently.

I have a CIFAS registration on my file - a protective one, that means to prevent fraud I have to prove my identity. I am aware of this (Barclays lost some of my info and put in on there to protect me from potential fraud!).

The online credit file application said I would receive an email letting me know what documents to provide. This never arrived. I called them, they told me to send copy of driving license etc directly to them.

3 weeks' later, nothing, nada, not a peep from them. I called them (took me a while to find a number that worked, had a little panic in the meantime about whether they're legit or not - bit late for that indeed!) - after 3 calls (being hung up on every time), they told me I should have sent the docs straight to Experian, hence the delay and why I still didn't have access to my credit report.

Needless to say I cancelled on the spot and have requested confirmation of the destruction of my documentation (copies) - which they can't give me as they've apparently passed them on to Experian.

and breathe. (!) :D

Anyhoo, best leave them alone I think and stick to the known players.

hth,
pippitypip
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here! :D

!!!!!! me, just signed up for their free trial minutes before reading this. Used my Experian trial and I wanted to check my file as I've taken out a lot of insurance policies over the last month. The cashback was also a nice little bonus.

I'll just hold my heart come the end of the 30 days...
