As one of the 23% of Post Office Ltd staff who've been told today that they're being made redundant, I shall be reading the posts on this board quite a bit over the next few days.

Just to say - my heart's with you - I was made redundant last year after 5 years, and that was like having the rug pulled from under me, so I can only imagine how you must feel. Many people said "just think of it as an opportunity", and at times I thought "that's easy for you to bloody say". However, after a year of thrashing about getting back onto my feet I am now self-employed doing something I've always loved, but never thought I'd end up doing for a living. If you can simultaneously avoid blowing your redundancy payout (limit all spending, immediately) and start pondering what you enjoy, what you're good at, you'll help keep yourself afloat and pave the way forward. Blogging about your experience may also help you and others in similar situations. Absolute best of luck.New challenge to self: cut weekly £100 grocery spend in half! :money:0

Thanks for your kind words. In my case, I've been with them for 32 years so it's a bit of a shock at the moment. Life goes on though, and I'm determined to get on with life.0

I was made redundant from BT back in 2003. I can now say that it was the second best thing that ever happened to me. The first was my daughter. The more observant amongst you will have noticed that I didn't mention my marriage, but that's another story!
Two thoughts ...
Everything happens for a reason and works out for the best in the end, although it probably won't seem like it at the time.
