GrannyKnits wrote:Just read that some of you can put your shredded paper in your wheelie bins. Here in Norfolk we have 2 wheelie bins. One general rubbish and one for recycling (but only certain things). On our list of 'do's' and 'dont's' it says not to put shredded paper in recycling bin which seems ridiculous.
It is a shame that all the wrapping paper generated at Christmas and our council do not recycle it. I know they don't like the silver foil paper, but the rest should be fine.
I know some of you will say "Well you shouldn't use paper as it's bad for the environment" as true as that is, it's better to recycle what you do use rather than just send it to the land-fill.There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.0 -
Here are a couple of ideas for re-using shredded paper:
*If you have small pets, put it in their cages and save on sawdust
*Use when packing things in boxes
*Use for a lucky dip game.0 -
Emily if you put the shredded paper in a plastic bag (assuming you are not so green you never have any), it is far less messy for packing things up and can be moulded around the item.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hi there, once my paper has been shredded down I give it to my son to use for his two rabbits in their cages as bedding, it can be mixed up with straw if needed. Once they have had their few days use of it they are cleaned out and the dirty bedding is then given to my neighbours and they put it in their composter. By all accounts its great for breaking down everything in there after the rabbits have used it and left their waste.0

One of our cats has made a little nest in the bag of shredded paper under the desk! Haven't got the heart to recycle it now as she looks very cosy in there - bless0

Not sure about other pets, but don't do this for rats as some of the inks used are poisonous.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0
