BG Homecare - There is a cheaper way!!!!

I've been with BG Homecare200 for a year now, because of how the financial future is looking (in this household, not in the country or the world as a whole
) I decided to cancel it... I was paying £16 a month in the first year and the renewal was £18.50 a month.
I called them and as soon as I said that I wanted to cancel they offered me the same cover at £10 a month and it still comes with a full boiler service, the catch is that if you make a callout for repairs the first £50 come out of your pocket.
I still consider it to be pretty good...
12 x 10 = £120 + £50 = £170
12 x 18.50 = £222!!!
I suppose if your boiler doesn't break down you are quids in!

Alternatively you could scrap BG altogether and opt to pay an additional premium for Home Emergency cover on your house/contents insurance which would be a one off payment for under £20. (Not all policies offer this but Budget does).
Mine covers my boiler and various other home emergencies.
The money I save paying BG I put aside for anything else unexpected that might not be covered.0
