Mrs thescouselander has just got a shiny new iphone - she needs some insurance for it but the cost of the policy offered by carphone warehouse was pretty extortionate.
Can anyone recommend a good insurer for mobile phones?

Do you have cover for it under your house contents insurance? If not, it may be cheaper to add it here under 'Personal Possessions' or similar category....0

Some bank accounts have insurance as part of the deal. Ask your bank as you may upgrade your account for a small monthly fee and get "free" insurance for your phone.0

We don't have any cover on our bank account and I'd rather not use the household insurance as we would lose our NCD in the event of a claim. Also the household insurance doesn't have the same benefits as the specialist policies. What I'm after is the best deal on a proper phone insurance policy.0

Halifax Ultimate Reward Account
It's £12.50 per month, and you need to have £1000+ per month paid into your account. They give you back £5 for your monthly deposit, so the fee works out at £7.50. I personally feel it's one of the best ways to spend £7.50 a month considering it will insure your iPhone, offers travel insurance, breakdown cover etc. I only switched to it a couple of months ago - they also gave me £50 for switching accounts :j
Not a stand alone insurance, but worth looking at perhaps?0 -

Thanks, but I'm really not looking to switch our current accounts - we are already getting various benefits through our present arrangement which we would lose if we were to switch. We are also quite happy with our current account provider and free phone insurance isn't going to be enough to warrant a switch.0 -

Actually in a lot of respects a home policy will offer far superior cover0 -

Covered my wife's Iphone as a specific personal possession on the household insurance without increasing the cost at all. Try phoning your home insurers???"...IT'S FRUITY!"0

I would recommend Nat West gold account for a number of reasons......
For about £12 a month, you get:
Free phone insurance
Free breakdown cover
Free extended warranty and accidental damage insurance on up to 6 electrical purchases.
Of course you get other things, like free travel insurance etc, but the above I believe are the key ones.
It is worth noting aswell that if you get this service on a joint account, you get 2 x phone insurance.
Even if you dont want to switch banks, it may be worth having this account just for this service, although i must say compared to other banks, i have found nat west to be exceptional..... this may be regional or brannch related however.
I am in agreement with the above about Home insurance. It is too much hassle with the risk of losing NCD and of course you dont get all the other perks mentioned above.
Worth considering and taking a look as I was being quoted circa £10 just for insurance on one phone!
Please read the terms as I dot know if they have changed since I signed up a year ago, but I am really happy with the service.0
