Centenary House, Leeds, £80 ticket :(

On saturday night, I parked at Centenary House, North St, Leeds, alongside another car. I was with my housemate, who works at Centenary House during the day and is entitled to park there, although this was after hours.
I parked at 830PM and returned at 1230AM. I had a ticket
£80 now, £40 extra if you don't pay with 7 days.
I have NO intention of paying, however just thought i'd share the circumstances, in case there was anything i'd overlooked?
The ticket said I was parked in a restricted area, which on further inspection on getting out of the car, there are some yellow lines, but very, very faded. But then, there are also some very faded white line markings outlining some bays. I wasn't sure which of the two sets of markings was valid and which was old.
The was also some wording in V faded yellow saying "Park in numbered order" over the top of all this. To what it referred I dont know.
Anyway, If you looked on Google street maps, there are cars parked in exactly the same position I was was, during the day, when the carpark was in full use. Have a look....

Go to street map view on Junction of North street & Hartley Hill and look at the car park with the yellow car in it. I was parked to the right of that yellow car, in the same position, orientation, etc, and I got a ticket??
Any ideas people. Am I right in ignoring anything and everything that comes my way?
Cheers!

Only ignore if its not a council parking ticket, if you have penalty charge notice on the ticket together with a council logo come back as you need further advice.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
no, it was definitely from a private ticket company....so just ignore??0
-
Yes. Under what grounds are they entitled to the money? How on earth does parking in a 'restricted area' entitle them to £80?0
-
Agreed if private then ignore.
I know exactly where you mean but can't remember what any signs etc there say. Google street view reveals a sign that looks like a dodgy private one though http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=centenary+House+Leeds&safe=vss&ie=UTF8&hq=centenary+House&hnear=Leeds,+United+Kingdom&ll=53.801343,-1.538938&spn=0.000397,0.001321&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=53.801406,-1.538795&panoid=7hs7Fz0-WHAjKlwY8PHkhw&cbp=12,327.33,,3,-0.04
Don't suppose you know anything about the Association of African Affairs which was based there a few years ago? I am guessing they closed due to lack of financial backing.0 -
strategically placed on a lamppost behind where the minibus parks...useful sign eh? I didn't see it, it doesn't exactly scream, "COME AND READ ME!". Fools!
When I think back, there could have been a minibus parked there, not sure, but then, i have no photo to prove that, but I bet they don't either!!
I could claim there was one there i suppose if it came to it, surely they would have to sucumb to the fact their sign is/was obscurred, and therefore even they couldn't claim it's enforceable, even though we all know it wouldn't be anyway!?0 -
ooooooh!! I've been served with an NIP. Still ignore???

It's all red and scary!!0 -
As it blubbers on about a Parking Charge Notice being unpaid, this just appears to be another of the suggested scare tactic letters they have sent to you with all the pretty red ink.
I have not had one of these yet, but by reading all over about the scare tactics etc this does indeed appear to my untrained eye to be one of those...ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
NOV 2021 O/S AMOUNT £1,694.41 OUR DEBT REDUCED BY £104,759.59 by std regular, over-payments & off-setting.

That's not a NIP. It's a standard threatogram from VCS.
Ignore it and the claptrap that follows until you reach the end of the letter-chain. See our sticky thread 'PPC letters/scams what to expect' near the top of this forum, for pics of the known letters.
Nowt to fret about,. just a scammer. Don't even think about paying it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

strewth, how much closer to a real NTO can it get? No wonder people think its real and not junk mail.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
