Black marks on bedroom ceiling

We have started to have black spots on the bedroon ceiling. It happens only by the window. We had the gutters replaced a couple of months ago so I would not think that water is seeping through from outside. There is no water tank in the attic that could be leaking. The bathroom is next door but we open the window/start the fan when water is running. Any ideas please ?
Incidentally, we also have black marks on the bath - any good products to remove them ? - I have tried bleach and various products on the market with no success.
Thank you in advance

Bleach or anti mould cleaner Polycell do one
It could be lack of insulation in the eaves they can sometimes miss it when laying insulation down0 -
Thank you - you must be onto something because we had to take the insolation down when the attic was fumigated. The husband was thinking along the same lines and has started putting the panels back - it only took it 15 months, mind ! :silenced:Keep calm and carry on0

Black spots? You mean mould.
You need a proper fungicide and search for condensation prevention advice0 -
take your wellies off in bed.Get some gorm.0

I swear the ceiling is getting worse: it looks like a wet patch is spreading from the window, despite the insulation panels being put back in place a couple of months ago.
The husband is wondering if the fascia need to breathe - it's after new plastic fascia were put in that we started having problem with dampness.
Many thanks for your suggestionsKeep calm and carry on0 -
Sorry to hijack thread but i am having a similar problem, we get this in the bathroom and the bedroom next to it. Have tried the polycell mould killer but this only stem back the issue short term.
Seems to be worse in winter - Would like to re do guttering as its old a a bit leaky but don't think this is to blame0 -

If the guttering is leaking, could the water be making contact with the wall at all? If so, that's likely to be a possible contributory factor despite your intially ruling it out.0 -
Check your guttering, that can lead to problems if it leaks
If its old metal guttering and money is short you can patch it up with guttering mastic and bitumen paint, I did mine now is will last years
If its not guttering you may need an extractor fan or open window when you wash0 -
Have you got vents in your roof? We had this problem in a house I work in, in a couple of the bedrooms, and it was caused by condensation (and no vents) up in the attic.0

I've had black mildew mould on the ceiling above my bedroom window for years and, like yours, was worse in the winter. Was constantly using bleach to try to kill the spores. Two years ago I redecorated and used Thermilcoat paint on the ceiling. The mould has never returned!:j I bought mine from Greenshop. It makes the surface not as cold, so when warm air hits the surface it doesn't cause condensation (which caused the mould).
I have an outside wall in the kitchen which is tiled. The grout was constantly going black. I used Astonish Mould and Mildew remover and it hasn't come back. I'd always used bleach before that, not believing that mould remover was different, but it clearly is.
