HELP,Laptop Fan not spinning??

I posted last week about a Medion MIM2310 laptop
I was given that wouldn't boot up.

I have checked inside it today and when I power
it up the fan doesn't start, it just flick's as if it is
trying to spin up. Would this stop the laptop from
booting up?

It did boot up a couple of times randomly and I did hear
the fan spinning but not anymore.

All help greatly appreciated.

Usually it would come up and then quickly shut its self down again.

If the fan is flicking i would suggest the bearings have gone.

Not usually the signs of overheating are after the machine has been in use for a time .
Unless the BIOS has a setting where its no boot on fan failure .

  • Noooooooo. Fans might just kick in and go off again, does it move freely with a push?

It can stop them from booting up. it happened to my daughters. I presume on boot up it checks using the bios that the fan will be operational if required. I took the bottom off the laptop and found that the fan was jammed. By rotating the fan by hand it un-jammed it. She had dropped it the previous evening but it carried on working, it was only when it was started the following day did the problem occur. Also used the opportunity to blow all the dust etc out of it
