Its not an inspection - just tells you if teh car is stollen, has outstanding finance, write off etc. How long ha syour friends friend had it? are they likley to have bought it on finance?

its just a normal HPI check and can be recomended sometimes, I had an HPI check run on my first car but not on the second (as I knew the guy selling)

This as other posters have said,is an HPI check, not a mechanical examination, which would be far more expensive.

I would advise you to have some kind of inspection done before you buy,if you can not afford an AA inspection, you may find a local mechanic in your area to do it cheaper.if not a friend as a last resort. This is important in a vehicle of this age,and can pay for itself long term.

While i would not suggest for a minute that your friend would try to mislead you, many people are unaware of faults on their vehicles and people have bought cars only to find later they are not as good as they thought .And remember you have no warranty when you buy in a private sale like you do from a garage.,or the same comebacks if things go wrong.
:) There are two sides to every story.
