How dare you Hammyman suggest this our own doing!!!! My hubby is a very hard working man never scrounged off the dole or asked anyone for help..now I am annoyed! Yes we have taken on board the help suggested and today we did phone the mortgage company as the mortgage goes out the 23rd of each month which in january there is no payment so we would be in theory defaulting. We have spoken with the employer and no they are not making any further payments to cover the 11 days. We have also cut down today on our shopping and put that amount we wqould of saved in a pot...so we are doing as much as possible. Hubby has tried in vain to get a higher paid HGV job but it is not easy as agency workers take the brunt of new jobs out there so I take offence at your remark. WE dont live above our means at all, we survive we dont have luxuries we dont take holidays, in fact we have not had a holiday for over 2o years!!!!! in fact we dont even have a passport. CAN YOU TELL NOW I AM ANNOYED!.

If things are this bad, like another poster said, you will be seriously !!!!ed when rates rise.

Time to sort out your financial future now before you are homeless.
  • Oh someone else wants to pre judge......yep we are in a fix now but you dont know the full facts, ie we could be on fixed rate and you have no idea how much longer is left on our mortgage? may be 2 years or 3...so please stop pre judging .I ONLY ASKED IF IT WAS RIGHT A COMPANY CAN CHANGE THE DATES NOT FOR A FINANICAL OVERALL AND TO BE PRE JUDGED BY PEEPS WHO KNOW NOTHING. Our finances are fine, we are not into materialistic toys, we enjoy the sinmple things in life like each other not what IPOD bring out nxt!!!
  • They should really have done a consultation with employees before this, as it's a contract change. They are supposed to try and get your agreement, and if they force it on you and you resign, this can be constructive dismissal.

But then if they can't get agreement, they can just end your employment and offer you the new contract. If you don't take it, you don't have much of a leg to stand on at a tribunal. Or if they force it on you and you carry on working for them, then you've accepted it.

To be honest, I think most tribunals would consider 3+ months a reasonable amount of notice.

I only wanted advice if the company could do this legally or had to give x amount of time

Erm, yes they can and you have had 3 months notice - you are taking out your anger on those trying to give you some ideas.....and thus other ideas will not be suggested after your responses.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
