Iphone software and Dell laptop advice

Hi guys,

I am quite technicaly handicapped and I was wondering whether you can help me?

I've downloaded latest update for my Iphone 3GS - OS 4. The screen now looks completely different and I have no idea what good is that, but all my applications disapeared?? My Facebook, my bank, all my games. Have I done something wrong? Or is it normal? My contacts and my photos are still there... And the apps are in setting - just not on my screen. How do I get them on my screen from there?

Also my Dell laptop is driving me crazy. My HP laptop packed up this April so I got the Dell instead and I regret that decision ever since. It runs on Windows 7, is constantly backing up and running checks and antiviruses etc - which in itself is good, but god is it slow. Even when I say no to all of these, it is annoying because I am trying to work and every 10 mins or more often a window asking me something pops up.

Last week my OH downloaded Adobe Acrobat to it so I can edit PDF documents, he said everything was O.K., it switched off O.K., but on Sat we couldn't fire it up!! OH managed to get it running and run some checks - all negative.

Since then every time I switch it on a screen comes up asking whether I want to run a repair (recommended) or run Windows normally??

Anyone has any tips what can I do with it apart from sending it back to manufacturer?

Hardrive 250GB serial ATA
Memory 3072MB (1x2048 x 1x1024) 800MHz DDR dual channel
