I've just received an e-mail from an ebayer in the USA interested in buying my item and requesting details.
I don't have anything listed for sale on ebay at the moment.
is this some kind of spam?

Its a kind of scam you click the link in the e-mail to reply and it looks like ebay ask for your details password & user id
So basically its a scam another way to get user id and password:A Freebie Queen :A0 -

If you clicked on a link or pressed the respond button and you were asked to sign into your ebay account and you did so then youve just given your ebay account details away to fraudsters.0 -
Well, I did click on the respond link but I didn't go any further and give them any username or password.
I went on ebay in a new browser and changed my password to be on the safe side.0 -

it makes you wander why we keep up with ebay and paypal for the matter too, full of schisters all of emAll the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -

These emails are getting better and better and it is easy when you are busy to be taken in but never click on any links unless you are sure it is a genuine email.
I always check that any emails received are in Ebay's Message system and if they aren't I forward to spoof@ebay.co.uk.
A good tip is to check for your name, ebay will usually address you by your full name and these emails tend to say Dear Ebay User, Dear Ebay ID or Dear email address. The same applies for paypal emails which if in doubt I forward to spoof@paypal.com.
If I'm not sure I will always log into ebay and paypal and check.
I've been getting a lot of spam emails through the email/ ebay message system from China which are getting a bit of a joke but I keep blocking their emails, blocking their ebay ids and reporting.0 -
I continually get emails from 'Ebay' saying that they have noticed fraudulant activity on my email account and that they are closing it.
I am not even registered with Ebay, and have never bought or sold on it via my email account that they use!
