jobseekers & housingbenefit & working one-off-day

Hi all,

I am currently under 25, unemployed and getting jobseekers, housing benefit and being assessed for council tax benefit and NHS low income cert.

I may have a chance to work for one day doing IT support work as cover, for around £80 - £100

it would be a one off, one day, no chance for any more.

Before I go further into this, I need to know how would it effect my benefits, would I have to sign off rapid reclaim wait all over for them to sort it again, fill in lots of change of circ forms for housing/council/NHS then have to do them all again?

If so I'd be worried it wasn't worth it, or can I just tell the jobcentre about it (It will be going through payE so they will find out anyway!) and they can just not give me benefit for one week or knock something off?

I know if I fully say I'll do this then turn it down I am in breech of jobseekers for turning work away, so I need to decide what to do before I am officially "offered" it.

Thanks.

Saving for a year in Japan.
I need around £10,000. Help me get there!

hi quick answer - you would not need to sign off as its under 16hrs a week, you would loose your benefit for 1 week and you hb/ct which you would claim seperately for from the council for that week on the grounds of low income. benefit would not be affected until you physically recieved the wage.

We use earnings for the period they are meant and not the date that they are paid but I would expect JSA not to be paid for a week, you would provide income details to the council and we would assess your HB claim using those earnings for that week.
If you tell the JCP, they can amend your JSA claim and you should also tell the council as the JCP may well do but also might not.
