Why would my Windows PC need "Apple Application Support"?

I regularly get the "running out of C drive space" warning", and while I set Windows doing its regular clean-up I was invited to remove unused programmes. I discovered "Apple Application Support" (33.89MB). I've no idea what it is so tried to remove it. Then I got this message. Is something being installed without my knowledge?

that (and all the other apple stuff) is installed with itunes and if you still need/want itunes you may need to keep it,
as for the instalation box usually the install/uninstall program are the same so can throw up the wrong word or it starts the install program to start the uninstall, there is nothing to worry about from what I see, it is just saying that the NET framework may have to be reinstalled after you remove the apple program.
  • Ahh yes, pp, I did try to download a file using Itunes months ago. Didn't work though, so I need to remove this as I'm desperate for the space.

But I haven't been able to remove the programme because of the installation, whatever that is. The Apple Application Support Message is now saying
"An installation for MS .NET Framework 2.0 SP 2 is currently suspended. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo these changes?"

By installing one set of libraries (in this case user app support) then all of the Apple software suites can share it without duplication.

Would you rather one 33mb file, or 2 or 3 of the same, under a different alias?

It sounds to me from the message it isn't actually Apple preventing you from uninstalling it, its another piece of software currently in the process of being installed that failed/got closed. Did you try restarting then uninstalling then?

how big is your hard drive? a few tens of MB is tiny in this day and age....

also one way to grind your PC to a halt is to try to operate with a near full hard drive as it'll fragment in no time trying to squeeze bits of your programs in here, there and everywhere.

either you are very badly managing the space you have or need to buy a bigger/second drive (1TB high performance drive for a desktop costs £40-50 these days)

It gives you the option to install safari and quicktime with itunes, 2 unticks will stop safari and quicktime installing.

The bigger question is why are are you running out of space, are you dumping all your photos, music etc onto the C drive and the d: is pretty much empty? How big is the whole drive itself?
