There is an IBIS right next door to the station. It is ok - but I think sometimes the prices are a bit expensive for what the hotel is.
Otherwise check out hotels in the Bloomsbury area - this is all fairly close to Euston (though a bit of a pain with heavy suitcases). There is a Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury which sometims has relatively inexpensive rooms. Another holiday inn in Kings Cross (good facilities) but location not brilliant.0 -
Hello Lola23
Right across the road from Euston station is the London Euston Premier Travel Inn.
Current price is £85 per room (Mondays - Thursdays)
£75 per room (Fridays - Sundays)
I've stayed there and my tip is to ask for a room facing the car park, not the main road.
With a room facing the road, not only is there traffic noise but there is a Fire Station nearby and their Fire Engines might wake you up as they race off to an emergency.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. There is a row of Indian restaurants directly opposite the hotel (on Drummond St). Most will let you take your own wine and charge corkage. They are south indian vegetarian cuisine restaurants and one of the best cheap eats in London (imho). Diwali (or Divali - cant remember exactly) is the one I have eaten in most. You can get a set meal (thali I think) - used to be under a fiver but still under a tenner I think. The other one is the Ravi Shanker and there was another called Chutneys (this one is open on Sundays I think). If you like indian food, def worth eating there (though it is different to the typical indian food that is available in this country ie no tikka masala etc and def. no meat).
To get to the ibis you go out the side exit (right hand side) - I am sure you have checked this out on the map.0 -
I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W
Hope that helps0 -
Are you needing a hotel for the Sunday evening as well or will you be travelling back home? I went with my hubby to London earlier on in the year and stayed at the Novotel Euston in London which was a five minute walk from Kings Cross and Euston station. We went on a 2 night getaway which cost £198 for both of us which included breakfast - I think the normal rate is about £340. The hotel was really nice (4 star I think) and in a great location to explore the city. I've just looked at the novotel website and they are doing this deal again. If you choose the hotel, put the dates in, it then gives you a few different rates for the same room - you then just choose the 2 night getaway price. Of course only any good to you if you are going 2 nights and not 3!!0

Another site worth checking is https://www.laterooms.com again like venere you do not pay up front.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -

Thanks for this lily the pink. It's good to get recommendations re food places.
We do like Indian food and that would be handy. Might try that on Friday night cos def not want to eat in the hotel, think we might even go out for breakfast somewhere else.
Hope the weather is not too bad. When we were there last year for the weekend it was baltic (it was December right enough).

We are coming home Sunday afternoon.
I have booked the Ibis for the 2 nights and it's £144 for the 2 of us without breakfast...it's an extra £7.50 each. We think we will go out for breakfast cos been to Ibis before and it's not worth it. Apart from that I think it should be ok.
Really looking forward to the wee break.
