I have seen that you pay 0.5p/Minutes the lowest but on the top of it you still need to pay normal connection for instance BT 8p/minutes.
so 8.5p/Minutes

If I am using Prepais International Scracht calling card and using 0800 (free from land line), for Instance "Talk Direct Card2 just cost me for about 2p to the US. Also Skype, Laptop to Landline is less than 5P/minutes.

How come telephone overrider 0844 is cheaper. Am i Missing somthing here ?

Thank You.

The connection charge is paid once per call, not per minute. So a 20 minute call to a 0.5p/min 0844 number would cost 18p (assuming the connection charge is 8p - I'll take your word for it).

Does that answer your question? I'm not really sure what you're asking, to be honest.

Personally, I tend to use the Betamax VoIP providers like https://www.nonoh.net and https://www.cheapvoip.com as they tend to be the cheapest rates.

BT's call set-up fee went up to 10.9p incl. VAT on 1st October.

BTW. there are many ways to call the USA from a BT landline for less than 2p per minute without having to pay up-front - and some allow you to avoid BT's charges completely. I pay a quarter of that (I have a www.18185.co.uk account and, by using the 18185 prefix, pay a one-off 4p call connection charge and ½p per minute).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
