Customer service? Tesco seem oblivious.

I am a fan of Tesco, have been for a long time.
CS today were downright rude to me.
My Tesco credit card got left at the CS desk Tuesday night - they didn't hand it back to me after adding on extra CC points and I didn't realise this until Wednesday.
I rang the store, yes that's fine, we've got it. We'll hold it until you collect it.
I go to collect it today and they destroyed it yesterday.
I'm not impressed, but realise accidents happen.
However, did I get a sorry? nope.
The CS staff member kept talking over me, demanding to know who I spoke to in store and didn't believe me when I told her the person didn't give me their name. Continued to talk over me which got me riled, so I raised my voice in the vain attempt to get her to listen rather than talk.
As i walked away her colleague said loudly, in front of all the other customers "There was no need for her to get arsey, it wasn't your fault" Which made me cross. How rude.
There, got it off my chest now. Thanks!
letter going in post tomorrow to store manager.

If I had the choice of having my card kicking around Tesco and still being valid, or cancelling it and having Tesco shred it, I'd go for the former.0

I do hope you get a courteous reply.Tesco are now selling 1/3 of all groceries and are very insensitive.I would also write to the regional manager if the TSM does not provide an adequate response.I experienced rudeness etc over the telephone and have made a Data Subject Access request whereby all phone calls to tesco will be recorded onto a CD and as I am hard of hearing I have requested that the CD is made available in acceptable format as a written transcript. Then I shall supply various parties with copies for further action to be assessed. It will be £10 well-spent even if there is no viable evidence generated
Yours in hope-go back to the Coop0 -
Its not their fault they never handed it back, its your fault for not taking it. Don't pass the blame on to them, its up to you to make sure you collect your card!0

On the plus side it could have been worse. Someone could have been on a spending spree with your card! Did you actually see the destroyed card as all you've got is this woman's proof that they destroyed it. In reality she could actually have kept you card and be embarking on a massive spending spree! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. No, I have photos everywhere of all the places Tesco has paid for our holidays to - Maldives, New Zealand...
As I said in the OP, what did or didn't happen to the card wasn't the issue, it was the poorly trained customer service staff who had a go at me because I didn't know the name of the person I spoke to on the phone, didn't apologise for destroying the card when I was told I should come and collect, kept talking over me and tolerated her colleague calling me arsey so audibly.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
