employment length and applications?

I have a balance on a credit card which i would like transfer to a 0% deal. I have never been late on payments, and only normally pay the minimum leaving money still on the card. I am on the electoral role and have checked my credit history but i have only started a new job 2 weeks ago. Does anyone know if this would be offputting to a lender and whether i'd be better waiting for a few months before trying to change? Thanks

The longer you have been employed, the better. Typical triggers in credit scoring systems are 6 months, 12 months and 3 years.

Assuming you're 0% is due up quite shortly, and you're not planning an excessive number of credit searches, there's every reason to apply if only to establish where you currently stand.

If you're decline, focus on debt reduction until you've been in your new job and then apply again.
