Maternity benefits

Posting on behalf of a friends daughter please to please request some advice
Shes happily married and has just told me shes 6 weeks pregnant
I know theres going to be a shake up of maternity benefits soon but does anyone please know of any sites she could look at so she can work out if she is entitled to any benefits such as one I beleive is called a sure start grand. She due the baby lasy May next year
Her and her DH wish to draw a budget of what income they will be having over the next 18 months

I wouldn't like to give any solid advice as you are right, there are going to be massive cuts.
What is her current situation regarding employment etc? And her, and her partners income? If you can provide these, we can gave very rough estimates as to what she may be entitled to.0 -
They already have twins so is a SAHM so she has no income of her own. Her DH works FT on I believe £15k a yearMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

Ok. Well, in that case their CTC will increase as will the CB they receive.
It is unlikely she will qualify for the Sure Start Maternity Grant as from April 2011 they are changing the criteria to first babies only. Given her dates Im fairly sure she will be ineligible.
Other than that, if she doesn't work she won't be entitled to any maternity benefits.0 -

True, she might *just* make it. But that is assuming that the new rules use EDD.
I still havn't found any literature that actually states whether the cut off is for babies born after April 1st, or due after April 1st.0
