Epson bx300f scanner error message

I have the 3 in one epson BX300F scanner and printer. When I try to scan something it sounds as if the scanner is starting to scan then it says "cannot communicate with printer. Make sure the scanner is on, correctly set up and connected with no errors in the scanner. If using a scsi connection restart your computer "
can anyone help me get the scanner to work ?
the printer / scanner is connected etc !!

  • What version of Windows?

What version of the printer driver? If it's the one on the CD supplied with the printer, uninstall it and download the latest from the manufacturers website.

    its windows xp .
i bought the printer from john lewis online and i had to request the operating instructions from them in english as the brochure that came with the printer was all foreign language instructions. the cd that came with the printer that i installed says EPSON STYLUS OFFICE BX300F SERIES
underneath it says home edition made in hong kong ?
should i uninstall this programme ? i'd be scard of not even being able to use the printer as i'm not very technical.......
what do i look for on epson website to download ?
  • Uninstall the printer using the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel.
Disconnect the USB cable from the PC
    Reboot the computer

    Go to http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=YZnBT5wk60aBHvQnQZyktBqTwpL0X42l&tc=6#7

And download the driver (6.63) and Epson Scan. Install each in that order. Plug the USB cable back in when told to do so.

If you have no other Epson equipment on the PC, remove all Epson badged items. If you have other Epson equipment, post the list of programs that have Epson on them.

Epson Scan certainly needs to be uninstalled.
