America Express Credit Card Issue

in Credit cards
I currently have an america express credit card - i am coming to the end of the 0% interest period and am looking to transfer my balance.
I have been accepted for another credit card with Natwest but when i input the america express card number it declined it, saying it needs 16 digits (my card has 15) i rang american express but they said to contact nat west (who are not open at this time) and now im worried!
Especially because ive just been on the back of the credit card that it was 'non transferable'!
Does anybody know what that means? surely you can't be forced to keep a credit card and pay high interest rates.
Please help.
Thanks.

You certainly can be forced to pay high variable rates (which you agreed to) if you cannot find any way to transfer/pay off the debt.
That's what you agreed to isn't it?
I would give nat west a call on Monday.
It might simply be a technical thing.0 -
But if Nat west have offered my a card in which to transfer the balance across - american express can not force me to stay with them can they?0
-
Providing Nat west will agree to do the transfer then no there is nothing AMEX can do to stop it.0

Non-transferable means you can't transfer the card to someone else. A bit like you can't start giving your bus pass to someone else to use (if you have one).
How you manage the accounts (pay it off etc) is entirely up to you.0 -
This is almost certainly just a badly written application on the Natwest website - some genius decided that every card must have 16 digits and so to reject anything else automatically.I currently have an america express credit card - i am coming to the end of the 0% interest period and am looking to transfer my balance.

Just call NatWest on Monday and ask to do the transfer - I'm sure it'll be no problem.
The non-transferable bit is what amacuk says.0 -
