Things to do in Dun Laoghaire????

Options
Hi,
We are taking our two kids aged 7 and 4 down to the Royal Marine Hotel(Thanks Mr Tesco Clubcard deals) in Dun Laoghaire for a couple of nights at halloween and was wondering if anybody had any tips or ideas of things to do whilst down there. We are going to go to Dublin zoo one of the days, but any ideas of places to eat or things to do would be great.

Thanks

Darcy

  • Stayed there a while back and really enjoyed it - I'd say be sure and go for a swim in the hotel pool, it was a very good pool for a hotel and had a jacuzzi as well :)

We also went to Hartley's restaurant, not very MS but very nice food.

Thanks - is Hartleys a restaurant in the hotel?
  • Hartley's is a restaurant at the bottom of the hill the hotel is on. Worth booking in advance if you're there on a weekend

    Catch a ferry ???:rotfl:

Nawwwww only joking, lovely golf club in DL if your into stick swinging;) not a bad wee shopping town too:T get to the Dart station and you have wonderful access to all areas of Dublin and surrounding towns, Bray would be nice for a bracing seaside walk late October;)

Massive selection of places to eat in the area, but if your kids are like mine on holidays all they want is maccy D's or KFC:( plenty of them too;)

    Have a good trip.
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

with kids you can get an all day family ticket for the DART and hop up and down the DART line, down to Bray, into Dublin, out to Malahide (which has an awesome kids park, a beach, some good food places)

  • If your kids are little there's a lovely children's playground in the People's Park. I couldn't get mine out of it when they were little.

The walk down the pier is lovely on a sunny day and the best ice cream in Dublin is sold at Teddy's at the end of the seafront. :-)

There's supposed to be a ghost tour in Dublin around the old prisons. Might scare the bejesus out o the kids though.

    Hi,

We stayed at the royal Marine Hotel, along with two grandchildren, 3 and 7, in August. Really good, comfortable hotel. Smashing breakfast and great pool. Food in the hotel was fine, but pricey, like most hotels down south. We all ate one night in Harry's Cafe Bar. Left out of hotel front door, turn left on the street, left at the top, and cafe is just across the road. Less than 10 minutes. Adult food is good and both grandchildren liked the burgers (no dressing) and chicken (no dressing). Garlic bread went down well. Recommend Eaton Mess for pud. Think bill with bottle of wine was 110 euro. (4 adults 2 children)
For a morning out try Dalkey Castle just South of Hotel.
