downloads and paint?

Somhow I seem to have anything i download to be opened by 'Paint' so I get this error message saying - blah blah cant open with paint blah blah

And when I try to open attachments from hotmail a page opens but stays blank.

Ive obviously messed with something I probably just need to reset it all to defaults I think I tried that when you open the big blue e and right click it but it never fixed it. ?????

First thing you need to do is follow the steps here
just to make sure.

When you have done that, try going to a file you want to open. Right click and choose the option 'Open With'. In the option box that appears, go to 'Choose program'. Select the appropriate program, and make sure the check box is set to open all similar file types with the same program.
Reboot and see if it still works.

If so, you'll then need to reassign all those file types. You can do so quite easily by using TweakUI
It will allow you to scan and automatically correct file type associations.

Thanks for that mate but when i start tinkering thats when this start falling off I was hoping for a click reset some thing.

Ill just have to stick with right click open with

You could just run TweakUI and see if it identifies and resolves the problem for you.
