wrong police do not use askmid in checking against insurance!!

they use MID. motor insurance database. askmid uses the mid's facility, very limitedly.

insurance company's do not enter their data on askmid. askmid is a website where the number plate is checked against the MID it doesnt hold information on wich insurer adresses or names. unlike the polices direct data link to the MIB's MID in wich the police can obtian more info on that vehicle combined with the DVLA data base.
ASKMID SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR YOUR OWN VEHICLE. not checking of other vehicle's but in certain curcumstances can be used to find out if a third party who may have rear ended you is insured.
