Looks like you were a named driver some insurance company's let the named driver accrue no claims as a named others dont.0

no one can really help you tbh, you will just need to keep at it looking for a decent quote
remember to check the ones who dont show up on comparison site s0 -
i think your best chance of an "introductory discount" is to approach your OH insurance company0

i second to this your best bet is approach his insurers, explain you were covered as named driver by them for 10+ years. they may discount you either that is to ask a family member or a female friend who drives to be a named driver on your policy this will help bring it down. i.e over 21yrs old held a licence over three years and no accidents of endorsments this ensures that your policy comes down not go's up due to young inexperienced endorsed driver. the more experienced the driver you add to your policy more chances it'll be cheaper for you even if the have no claims discount the cannot use it on your policy.0 -
I would double check with your original insurance company to double check whether you have accrued any no claims when you were a named driver. As this would reduce your insurance.
If you have not purchased a car as yet, i would try and get an eco friendly car, cheaper insurance and road tax.
Do you have anyone you know that could be added to your insurance? When my sister renewed her insurance she added me on as a named driver and it reduced her insurace by a few hundred poumds.
If you have a garage, advise the insurance company that. This reduces your insurance slightly.
I would definitely shop about. Hope you find a cheap quote!!!0 -
having a driveway also reduces your insurance and even further if it's covered by cctv camera. vehicles with a thatcham approved alarm also gives reduction to policy's and trackers do allthough with a tracker you have to pay so much a year for the gprs service.0

Depends on the insurer and the car I guess - previous insurance was more expensive if I said my car was garaged than on the street
Maybe because I said there's 3 cars in the household and they struggled to believe I'd put the 7 year old one worth £1500 in the garage, mind.0 -

No necessarily, permiums can sometimes go up if you mention you have a tracker, it will be the way the insurance interperates it, they might think; you think you live in a shadey area, and that you think your car is going to be singled out to be stolen, because of what it is, so it could be at a higher risk than it's been insured for.
You know how insurance companies are, licence to print money, could increase your premium on multiple different statistics or "facts" if they wanted to.
So adding a tracker can increase premiums as well as lowering it. I have a tracker in my car, but it's my own not using it for insurance purposes, runs off a SIM card in a GPS locator, done it purely as an exercise to see what it's like. Worst comes to worse and my car gets stolen, I can give the police realtime GPS co-ordinates of where my car is, or I can go steal it back myself using the spare key :rotfl:.0 -
