Has anyone had an increase in unit/kwh price in gas and/or electricity for Scottish and Southern Energy Energyplus care social tariff in the past 6 months ?
Yes they have just moved the goalposts for qualification from 10 to 20% my dual fuel bill has just gone up 26% as a result of no longer being allowed this tarrif, so much for the governments help schemes.
I here that others are experiencing this too; may be one for Martin to expose.
The average family uses £1000pa so you must have an income less than £5K to qualify.I can't see how any families with children can qualify as a combination of CTC/WTC & Child Allowance exclude them immediately. I told them this but they said it is what it is.
Letter to MP required is what I think this needs."Didn't I try to Warn them I said !"

Your input is welcome pioneer and it seems your correct however southern electrics website does say two different things.Yes they have just moved the goalposts for qualification from 10 to 20% my dual fuel has just gone up 26%, so much for the governments help schemes.
I'm puzzling who would now be eligible - even people refusing to work getting housing benefit and council tax benefit would get nearly £5000 a year in those benefits counting as income on the tariff eligibility assessment but where would they get the money to pay water, energy and food ?
An online tariff using a switching website would be the best thing for those affected by this change. However, I'm not affected but the prices have risen slightly.0 -

It's definitely gone up to 20%. I spoke to them a few weeks ago and I've had a letter too.0

Not only have they increased my bill 26% by upping qualification from 10 to 20% of income, but they are upping it another 9.6% on dec 1 for everyone.
If thats inflation of 3.1% im a monkeys uncle."Didn't I try to Warn them I said !"

I think a lot of elderly people just won't put their heating on for fear of getting into debt, with obvious consequences. Shame on you Southern Electric!0
