Is it cheaper?...

Hello,

I move house on the 29th of this month into a 2 bed house which is all electric and has storage heaters.

Could someone please tell me which is the cheapest way to use these as it will be on a monthly bill not key meter so I have no way of monitoring how much I'm using?

I've also been told that it actually works out cheaper if I keep my immersion on all the time for hot water, is this true?

Thanks,

Sian-Marie :D

You must have access to your electric meter, where you can see the kwh readings. Start out by writing down the numbers every day at the same time so you can be aware how much you use each day for day and night units. Multply by your tariff p/kwh so that you can keep track of the cost each day.

Immersion on all the time is more expensive than timed to be on for when you use the hot water. Lots of discussion in the forum. Try searching "immersion".

Ask the current occupants, landlord or seller as to how to get the best out of the appliances. They should be able to give you some really good advice based on their own experiences.

Assuming that you will be on a E7 tariff, leaving your immersion on 24/7 will rapidly be the route to huge bills! Use it only during the E7 period, because outside those 7 hours you will be paying a premium rate for all your usage.
Would you leave your kettle on all the time on the same basis? Or your oven?
