Good car boot sale in Cheshire

Options
Hi All - I am new to this forum (yay!) and am looking for some advice on a good car boot sale to visit in the Cheshire area - as a buyer (preferably on a Sunday). One of my friends hunts round car boots in Devon and always gets great bargains which she sells on eBay or keeps for herself - so I thought I would have a go to see what I can find!

Anywhere in Cheshire is handy, as is Liverpool area or Manchester - we don't mind a bit of a drive on a Sunday morning!

Also, do most car boot sales allow you to bring dogs in? We would love to bring our pup with us for a walk! :)

Thanks in advance!;)

  • Chelford car boot sale (just outside of Knutsford) is usually massive (depending on the weather). Parking is £2.50 (at least it was last time I went - there is no option of avoiding this unfortunately) but there is no entrance fee on top of this. Dogs are allowed. On a hot weeknd it can literally take me 3/4hrs to get around it all. Weather forecast is good for tomorrow!

The Cheshire Lounge on the A556 near the M56 has a regular large car boot sale every Sunday - usually around 100+ pitches and plenty of buyers.

I hope you've got a keen eye and a big garage as you may have to accumulate before you speculate! Good luck :D

Is this actually any good now? I went not lang after it first started. They were charging £2 to park?!?! and there were about 15 sellers. Never went back after that.
There's also supposed to be one in Rixton (near Warburton) but I don't know any details/info about it. Anyone?

As John Mcenroe says, you cannot be serious? If you have never heard of Chelford, you must have beamed down from the Enterprise. largest in the country. As for the rest, your area would bring up hundreds.

I've just been selling at the Countess of Chester Hospital Car Boot Sale today. It's on every Sunday but is not as big as the Chelford one. However, you don't tend to get any traders, just people getting rid of their own things. It's £1 to pay for the car park (I wouldn't chance not parking in the car park as they have people going around ticketing those parking illegally), no money to pay to get in and there were lots of people walking their dogs around today. Hope that helps!
  • Thanks for the replies everyone! My brother lives near Knutsford so I asked him about the Chelford one - he said the last time he went there was hardly anyone there (tho it was raining!) - so we decided to go to one closer to us first.

We went to one in Warrington opposite the big B&Q - it was free entry, and there were a good number of sellers. We were shattered after getting up at 6am!! I found I was quite shy at approaching stalls to start with to have a good rummage, but I did manage to pick up a few beauty bits & bobs which are on eBay now!

Hoping to head to Chelford next week if the weather is good (and if my OH can get up at 6am again to take me lol..!!!)
  • The Chelford one does depend on the weather. I imagine it would have been good last Sunday. I tried the Warrington one a couple of years ago when it was also on a Wednesday. It was total rubbish!
