Yes, there is.
Benefit managers at your local Benefit Delivery Centre can authorise temporary weekly payments on behalf of the Secretary of State in exceptional cases where the claimant is having financial problems & can't budget on a fortnightly basis. If authorised, they'll re-visit the issue a few months down the line (timescale is at their discretion) with a view to fortnightly payments again.
You'll have to explain why you want weekly payments, provide a breakdown of your income & expenditure and clearly demonstrate why weekly payments will prevent hardship. Weekly payments are not approved very often. Fortnightly payments are now the norm.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
If you are paid into a bank account you would need to have a very good reason why you cant just take out a weeks worth of money.0

Why on earth would you need it paid weekly?? lol0

I didn't know that they could do that. Weekly for us would also be much better for budgeting purposes.
Neither of us have bank accounts so we receive all of our income from benefits in the form of giro cheques.
What other money we get goes through our son in law's account.
I think I will find out more about this.
Thanks for the tip0 -
Id be very surprised if they would allow weekly as when payments were changed from weekly to fortnightly they offered all those affected a short term loan to help them adjust.0

There's a big emphasis on temporary in all this, Andy. It's just a short term fix while someone's going through some real hard times, it's not a long term option any more.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
Tbh, Andy, Pension Credit is paid weekly. You'd be better to give up farfing about on JSA/ESA and just go for Pension Credit instead, it'd save you so much grief.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0

I do get Pension Credit, a topup of £5.25 every week by giro.
But where the **** would I get the help I need to get me back into work??0 -
why dont you just open basic bank accounts with debitcards??
How on earth anyone manages to exist and live in this country without a bank account is just unbelievable!0
