San Diego sounds like a good place for the end of the trip. We did Palm Springs area last time. It was like a ghost town in August , too hot for the locals. The Sequoia NP sounds good. It seems like some seroius planning is needed.0

Can I suggest a visit to the National Parks website, if you like scenery, this will give you an idea of the parks in the area you are going to, I got a multi-park pass and it was worn out before it expired0

Salt Lake City is worth a visit for a day (to go around the centre for the "culture") but I wouldn't suggest you need longer, also a trip out to see the Great Salt Lake itself & Antelope Island is interesting. However, I'd recommend neither if you have the two teenagers with you, SLC isn't exactly lively:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Had a great holiday in California in 2009 and want to go back. Our route was LA, San Francisco, Yosemite, Las Vegas and Palm Springs. We did lots of the main attractions e.g Hollywood, Universal, Santa Monica, Alcatraz, Golden Gate, casinos and want some advice on what to do on return trip. Worried about being disappointed and trying to avoid doing the same trip. Any suggestions?
At the risk of sounding flippant it is almost always impossible to recreate the excitement and enjoyment of visiting a place for the first time so why not try somewhere else instead ?
As a suggestion the Gulf of Mexico coast of America of Texas and Louisiana is fascinating - New Orleans is definitely worth a visit - as is travelling West into Mexico.
It's also possible to combine all this with the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas.
It's a completely different sort of tourism to the West Coast and you'll see much more of the real America.
But you'll need to free yourself of the mindset of flying in and out of Los Angeles.0 -

Yes I agree with you but we are trying to keep everyone happy and LA is a popular choice with my sons. Not too bothered about going back to las Vegas. I think some of your other suggestions might be on the cards when there is just the 2 of us.0
