As for putting 'lives at risk' if you want to call from outside the UK, assuming this life or death scenario occurs between 9-5 Monday to Friday, but if it was 5.05 you would be dead. The doctors are putting 'lives at risk' by the GP surgery not being open 24 hours / 365 days then. Silly argument.

1.They should not be making money from the patient.

2. One would assume that if the number was rung outside normal hours it would give an alternative to be called.
