My Kasperesky Internet Security 2010 is coming up for renewal in 13 days. Are there any offers for this at the moment? - I got the present one at PC World at a cheaper price (special offer) than renewing the one I had.

avast free has better detection rates in the latest AV comparatives test, and is much lighter on resources, as is windows firewall.!!

Remeber its an internet security suite, not just an AV so you'll need anti-malware, something like Superantispyware or malwarebytes, and a firewall I use Comdo's which is the best free one out at the mo.0

Loading it up with too much resident security software slows things down, malwarebytes is a good secondary manual scanner which doesn't affect performance though
Most if not all antivirus packages (including Avast) include all types of malware scanning nowadays. Comodo/za firewalls aren't really needed if you have a good virus scanner and windows firewall or a router.!!

Its personal preference but I'd always recommend a third party firewall over windows inbuilt (especially on a laptop).0

A quick Google gets you KIS 2011 from £13 .
A small price to pay for what has constantly been one of the best security products over a number of years .
Bank with Barclays online and you get a free 3 licence KIS .

its always been good practise to run a seperate spy/malware program.. even from back in the day with spybot and lavasoft adaware etc to malware bytes now..
same with a firewall, a router is hardware and a software firewall is always recomended. majority of remote hack programs can bypass the windows firewall so i wouldnt rely on that.. (a crypted file may get past your av package for a while before it becomes detected so the firewall would be needed)..0 -
+1 for Kapersky , I get my license free from Barclays. However I've just bought a copy at Currys for my mums PC's.0
