House I'm buying put back on RightMove!

We had an offer accepted on a house back in early September. When it was accepted the EA said that they had ceased marketing the property at the owner's request, we were obviously very pleased and the advert actually disappeared completely from RightMove.

I was having a look through RightMove today and it seems the house is back on! It does say 'Sold STC' on it but why have they felt the need to readvertise it? We've kept the EA updated on the progress of our solicitors and they know we completed on our own house last week so it should all be pretty straightforward from here.

Property Bee shows the ad being placed on 28th September (2 weeks since it was removed) and its status being sold stc straight away.

Should they have told us they were going to put the ad back on?

Usually it just the EA advertising that they can actually get buyers.

Wouldn't worry about it. This is a buyers market and your vendor is not about to upset the apple cart by trying to attract higher offers.

They are not advertising the property. It is showing as sold! (OK STC).

They are advertising the Estate Agency. ("Aren't we an excellent EA? Look, we sold a property!")

I doubt any buyers would waste their time arranging a viewing on a STC property anyway. At least, not in the current market.

Yeah - in teaching terms it's like the little kid running around showing he got a gold star on his maths test - look what I did mummy! (Now give us some business world purleassseee!)

Exact same thing happened with the house next door to us - they stopped actively marketing it for a while (from the boxes delivered we believe since the owners finally realized they weren't going to sell it with the kitchen mess that was in there - that magnolia emulsion doesn't in fact cure all known ills), shoved it back on the day it went sold SSTC just to brag they'd done it.

My guess would be that it was an admin error to take it off the site completely rather than sstc, so when somebody in the office noticed they put it back up.

this happens more times than you expect. Either admin, it might not even be by the estate agent it might be rightmove.

Either way if you are doing what you are required to purchase the property then dont worry. If you are being misserable and not doing what is expected get your bum in gear.

It states sold. Therefore its sold.
  • I would contact the estate agent and pretend to want to view and see what they do.

If they offer you a viewing I would hang up and then threaten to withdraw from the sale unless it is taken down immediatly.

If they say that it is Sold STC and you cannot view then everything is OK anyway and you have nothing to worry about :j

    Excellent answer from Rainmaker.

Is it only showing up when you search with the "show sold properties" box ticked? if so theres nothing to worry about. If it comes up when you dont have this box ticked, but theres wording in the text saying its SSTC then you need to get a friend to do what Rainmaker said.
