Options
Claiming VAT back
Can I claim VAT back on replacement double glassed windows and doors?
Also can I claim VAT back on a new conservatory?
Or is there a grant I can apply for?
Thanks

Why would you think you can claim VAT back, if you have bought it to use yourself youre an end user and pay it to the government same as the rest of us.

And if you can afford to do all that work you wont get a grant anywhere.

  • I asked this question as I can claim VAT back on my car and other mobilaty stuff and I have had grants in the pass for building work, where I am the end user and also a tax payer,
    Thanks

In that case I have no idea.
If you had given the detailst in your first post that you have in your second post, it would have made things easier.

Have either of the items been adapted for a disabled person?

You don't claim back VAT, technically you shouldn't be charged VAT in the first place if you are disabled enough to fit the zero rating criteria.

Replacement windows and doors. Definate no chance of zero rating - unless the aperture of the door was widened to accommodate a wheelchair and even then, only the door, not the windows.

The conservatory will be treated as an extension to an existing building and so will not be zero-rated. You may be able to get some works associated with the conservatory zero rated such as a ramp up to the doors and a grab handle on the door entrace, but not the entire structure.
