Have I been ripped off??
Hi
I went to look at a Saxo at a garage today but it wasn't in very good nick so I had a look at a P reg Punto they had, it was priced at £1,095 which I know is a lot and I wasn't interest as it was overpriced but when I saw how immaculate it was inside and out and even under the bonnet and it's not because they've cleaned it all up because the Saxo was in a right state, I was swayed and agreed £1,000 for it and paid a £200 deposit, it's getting an inspection and put through it's MOT before I take it.
Now I know at first you think a P reg Punto for a grand is a rip off as I did but it really is in good nick.
Now my other half is going mad at me saying I've paid way over the odds, I took his stepdad with me as I don't know much about cars and went on his advice.
What do you guys think?

£1K for a P reg Punto isn't an outright rip off. If you get, say , 2 years service from it and it is indeed in good nick then that's pretty cheap.
Notions of value all fall apart when you get into cheap cars. It's about what you pay and what you get, not what the book price for a car is.
For £400 you can buy some real wrecks. If you can pick up a tidy car for £1K then what's the problem?Happy chappy0 -
I have to agree with tomstickland, cars of this age are sold on their condition,i would sooner pay more and get a better car, later you my feel it was better value if you dont have to keep spending money on it!!There are two sides to every story.

When you say it's getting an inspection,by whom?
Would pay you to get an independent one from one of the motoring organisations.

if you are curious about the book price for a good condition P reg punta, you could have a look on parkers guide or glasses, not sure of email address but if you google them they come up.
Ps the glasses web site charges £2.95 to give you a valuation, but it is the same one the car delaers go by.

Someone paid £1400 for my L reg Astra 1.4 in Jan this year (Paid £1600 for it 3 years before!) But it was IMMACULATE, a rare blue, 3 door e.t.c0
