Where can I get same sort of service as Nationwide please?

I have a branch of Nationwide locally. I have quite a bit of money stashed in their e-savings account. I also have an ISA with them and I have a credit card and debit card and Flexaccount.
NOW, not wanting to go into the silly details but one of the clerks in the local branch is the rudest person you could wish not to meet. Yesterday she upset me so much I have decided to move all my accounts. BUT is there an equivalent with any other society or bank.
I have to say their service on the internet banking is very easy to do and the rates arent bad.
For instance, would Yorkshire of Birmingham Midshires offer the same sort of facilities or are Nationwide the only BS which gives a current account and all the other goodies please?

Coventry BS has a good Current Account with good online facilities as well. And the interest is much higher than nationwide for the first year (5.3% AER now; paid montly)0

What about the Halifax High Interest Current Account? This is similar to FlexAccount in the £1000 per month credit to get the top rate but only pays 0.1% above balances of £2500 (NW is a bit better at £3000) Halifax also has a high overdraft rate (15.9% EAR typical) compared to Nationwide's rate (7.25% EAR) Websaver is the comparable 'offset' account to e Savings(4.75% as against 4.80% on all balances) but has most of the features of a bank account - which NW e Savings singularly lacks.
However, the Coventry First current account does looks better than either (you can get their rate on bigger balances - so no need to have offset accounts alongside) if you have much to put away each month.
If considering leaving Nationwide however do keep your current membership up (assuming it is pre 1997 membership in particular) A good basic account to hold appears to be the InvestDirect (with at least £100 in) paying 4%.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Or get in touch with the branch and describe what happened to upset you so much. I am sure they will do all they can to rectify. I've never had a bad CS experience with Nationwide0

Decide if it is just a clash of personality. If so, try to avoid this person when you visit.
If not, this silly, rude clerk might well want a bit of disciplining, some re-training or even removing to another department.
Surely Nationwide don't want scum bag !!!!!! on their front line, do they?
So, having decided which it is, ask to speak to the supervisor. Obviously do it discretely, and then explain what the problems are with this person.
And this conclusion thing of yours, where you sayYesterday she upset me so much I have decided to move all my accounts.
and this coupled withI have a branch of Nationwide locally. I have quite a bit of money stashed in their e-savings account. I also have an ISA with them and I have a credit card and debit card and Flexaccount.
Well, most negotiative situations have an intended outcome of 'Win/Win'.
Yours is more about 'I lose/I lose/I lose/I lose/they lose too'
Surely you can calm down and have a better outcome for your self, without necessarily moving all of your accounts and cards, etc, etc?0 -
When shopping abroad, Nationwide don't charge for the foreign currency transaction on their credit card.
This would be another benefit you would lose by finishing with them, don't you think?0 -

Well, I certainly will not give up! C'mon, she is just a staff in a bank. God knows hundreds or thousands staff in their bank. In any event, just not looking at her when go in the bank. Or write a complaint letter to the head office.0 -
The staff in my local (very small branch) of Nationwide could not be more pleasant or helpful. However, I had a similar experience a few years ago with the Britannia Building Society. Then it was not just one member of staff but the whole lot of them who could not be bothered with mere customers. They were far too busy being important. I moved my money to Nationwide.
However, I have now done some business with Britannia and found the attitude has changed completely and I am quite happy to deal with them again.0 -
I currently have savings accounts, current accounts and credit cards all with different organisations, as I go for the best, and one provider is never the best for everything, in my experience.
But as the above people have said, you have to decide what's best for you.Indecision is the key to flexibility

Nah! It's my branch, I reckon ... or perhaps they're all trained the same way. No that can't be true, most of the staff are smashing.in_my_wellies wrote:You must live near me!
