Help with crdit card needed

Options
Hi people,
this is my first post so sorry if it's the same old questions. for the last 6 years i have been keeping my nose clean while defaults fell off my credit history, i have 3 outstanding that have been settled but will stay marked as defaults until feb and oct 2011. I have a mortgage and a credit card my limit is £1000 and i want to get another card to replace this one with a higher limit (not to rack up debt those days are gone). My experian report is good scoring 877 my equifax report looks better (only 2 defaults not 3) but not sure of score yet. I have been told with a default on my history i wont get a card although i got mine a year ago with more than 3 defaults listed. I want a lower rate etc so should i only apply to someone who uses equifax only, tescos i beleave or am i wasting my time. Grateful for any help.

Firstly, credit scores are both meaningless and worthless...stop wasting your money.

What difference to the rate make...your days of paying interest (alongside racking up debt) are over aren't they?

Which card did you get last year?

Barclaycard search Equifax only. However, I'd suggest you go through the 'likelihood of acceptance' facility on their website first. That said, I seem to recall that searches only CallCredit (where your defaults and poor history may not appear, being as it's the least used CRA), so you may pass this hurdle only to fall at the next...namely the Equifax search.
  • My card is an Aqua card, 13 months old never missed a payment credit limit raised without asking but i would like somthing with a bigger limit.
And thanks for the reply

As yorkshire boy has said stop wasting your money on experians credit score.

I mean come on mate it just show you how meaningless and useless they are, experian give you a score 877 (good) and you have 3 blo0dy defaults.

I would try capital one progress
  • I did pay the debt off but 2 of the 3 debt agencies refuse to change the experian listing although i have letters from them accepting my payment and closing the case they just wont do it and experian claim they have to do it not experian. What really annoyes me is i lost my job 6 years ago and called my credit card companies asking to make lower payments until a new job was found but they refused, if they had been more human none of this would have happened.

Hi there, you can "see" which cards you could qualify for here, it's a soft search of your credit record so doesn't leave a search footprint as such.

    https://www.moneysupermarket.com/credit-cards/smart-search/?productSelectionName=Credit%20Builder

Or, you can try Barclaycard pre-application tool here

    https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/

A friend of mine recently got a Post Office Classic at 19.9 with a 2.5k limit with defaults and a ccj, although these are over five years old.

    Good luck.
