Santander Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver - paid in too early

Hi all,

I opened Santander's Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (paying 6%) on Monday - it was done over the telephone. After I was given my account number, I was told that it can now be used, I can set up a S/O myself (as I did not have my debit card with me that time). So I set it up for a S/O of £250, to leave my account on Tuesday.

Today, I received the big envelope containing the details. In it, the T&Cs actually state that I should only set up a S/O, the 1st to leave next month (Nov). This T&C was definitely not on the website when I first looked at it, and neither was I given any info regarding that during the telephone application.

I called their Savings department, after being passed around (as usual), I finally found someone who initially sounded quite unsure - he believed it should be fine, I should still get the 6%. When I asked if he can confirm with his seniors, he did not but instead change it to say he is confident that it will be okay.

I noted down his name - but would you just leave it at this? Or would you actually pursue it further? If yes, who would you contact to get an actual confirmation?

I would persue it further personally, but as for who to contact with that lot, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps call the savings dept again and ask to speak to a senior member of staff, be prepared for a long wait though!
