The VOA should have the measurements of the other properties, they could re-check the measurements if they wanted. There is a possibility that they may come to the decision that Band F is in fact correct and increase the bands of the other houses.

You cannot take the appeal any further than the VOA.

Hi I successfully requested a review of my Council Tax banding and received a rebanding from E to D and received almost £4,000 for almost 10 years of over payment. I am now trying to get an ex gratia payment from the Valuation Office Agency for the overpayment in water rates. Has anyone had any joy? They are saying that they made a valuation judgement so it wasn't a "mistake". Thanks

Water rates are not based on Council Tax.

Your council charges a lot if £4K was the refund for 10 years overpayment of the difference between Band E and Band D.

  • Thanks, I thought I saw somewhere that your water rate charges were based on your Council Tax Band? Perhaps I misunderstood. I've just had a water meter fitted and saved around £10 a month. I am in Reigate and Banstead and, yes, they do charge a lot for Council Tax!! The difference between D and E is around £360 a year.

You seem to use this forum a lot. How do I know when someone has replied to my post?

    Thank you:)

I am not sure, I just return to the post and have a look. I think there is a way of setting up a notification when your post has a reply, but I don't know where to find this.

You must live in a small city if you have been able to check CT band of every 3 bed semi

Well ok the majority or at least everybody else I know. My parents and in laws both have larger houses that are in a lower band

Quite possible, but you need to check the bands of 3 bed semis similar and close to yours.
