Lost my NCD due to policy lapsing 3 years ago - Help!

My car insurance expired 3 years ago as I got rid of my car. I have just phoned Post Office Insurance who I had my policy with as I wanted them to confirm my no claims discount.

I have just been told that because my policy expired 3 years ago, I have now lost my 6 years no claims discount and that I will need to start from scratch, I wasn't advised about this rule when I let my policy expire and as you can imagine I'm not feeling too happy about it right now.

I'm shortly getting a car so will need to sort out some insurance.

Apparently most companies will not honour any no claims discount if the policy expired 2 years ago or more.

Does anyone know of an insurance company which might still honour my lapsed no claims discount? :(

You probably want to talk to a broker for this first year. You will struggle if only doing online comparisons.

I think you might struggle but a decent broker might get you a year or two's bonus if you are lucky.

Soe of the other guys might hve more info, good luck

Unlikely as the Post Office will not be willing to confirm the previous discount.

When you switch insurers they require proof of no claims, Neither you or the Post Office
can or are willing to supply that information.

    Starting from scratch, Sadly.

Have you been named on another policy over this time.

A Plan bletchly gave my wife 4 years NCB without evidence. Just a statement that she had not had an accident in 10 years (was about 5 years ago now)
