+3 years of college/apprenticeship to train to be an electrician + £500 per year to register with a scheme to self-certify etc. etc. etc.
The ability to buy cheap parts does not make you an electrician or even slightly competent, or safe. :eek:0 -

Yes it was both jobs.

I am having both jobs done this coming Thursday. Parts and labour was quoted between £250 and £370. I have gone with someone charging £260. Liverpool.0

His labour charges look steep to me but then I'm from oooop North.0

I had this done, it cost me £480.
The second part of your job is just running some cable from your consumer unit to your gas and water mains. He seems to be charging you a days labour for that, and unless they are on the opposite side of your house, and involves lifting floorboards etc, then it seems to be a bit steep!0 -

Job now done. All seems in order. He was here from 08:00 - 15:00(and then from 16:00-16:15 as he had to pop out to get something). Very happy with price inc. good quality box (MK) and earth bonding to gas and water.0
